About The Culture

Discover South Korea

South Korea, located on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, is home to more than 51 million people. Its capital, Seoul, stands out as a global hub for technology, business, and striking modern architecture. The country’s location has long made it a center for international trade and cultural exchange.

Cultural Values & Traditions

Deeply influenced by Confucianism, Korean culture emphasizes respect for elders, honoring ancestors, and fulfilling family roles. Education is especially valued, students often devote long hours to study, as academic success is viewed as a way to bring pride and advancement to the family.

Cuisine & Dining Etiquette

Korean cuisine is celebrated for its variety of flavorful dishes. Beyond staples like rice and kimchi, meals feature an array of fermented and pickled side dishes such as radish, bean sprout salad, and cucumber salad. Popular entrées include marinated and grilled meats like beef short ribs and chicken, along with hearty soups and stews.

Dining etiquette reflects Korea’s cultural respect and order: elders are served first, bowls remain on the table, spoons accompany the entire meal, and chopsticks are never left standing in rice. These traditions highlight the importance of family, respect, and shared experiences in Korean dining culture.
